Are you willing to accept? Andrea Dovizioso is ready to talk to Honda: “We can talk”
Marc Márquez’s injury dealt a massive blow to the team’s 2020 season plans. However, it is unknown what will happen in 2021 or whether the multi-champion injury will progress before the first date. On the other hand, it’s unclear whether Andrea Dovizioso or Stefan Bradl will finish first or second, depending on who’s riding their motorcycle.
Despite the fact that Dovizioso formally retired from the category at the end of 2020, the Italian has always expressed a desire to return. He was approached by several major teams with offers to be a test driver. He confirmed, however, that he was not interested in that position because he wants a competitive team for the 2022 season. Given Márquez’s injury, the opportunity to compete in MotoGP next year has opened up.
The Italian addressed the topic for the first time in front of the microphones of his country’s Sky Sports network, stating clearly that he wants to return to the paddock, but not with just any team. He said that he would want to get a call from Honda, but he will not readily accept his ideas. His manager announced a few days ago that ‘Dovi’ would not be returning for just a few races.

“I am open to the call, but not at any price,” Dovizioso warned the Japanese team. “I am only interested in some projects, so if there is a possibility of returning in 2021 or 2022 I will be the first to be happy to talk about it, otherwise there is no problem,” said the former pilot of Ducati. His announcement at the end of 2020 stated that he would take a sabbatical year in 2021. His return, though, will not be easy at his age (34).

Marc Márquez’s Honda replacement is yet to be confirmed. They did not rule out contacting ‘Dovi’ to wear the brand’s colors again. “If they call me, we’ll see what I do. There must be a serious project. I am used to doing things well, so if there is intention and desire, we can talk about that ».
