Brett Moffitt, a former NASCAR Truck Series winner, will run for AM Racing full-time in the Xfinity Series in 2023.
The team will now be a willing participant in the championship, switching from Chevrolet to Ford as well as forming a technical partnership with Stewart-Hass Racing.
The Statesville, North Carolina-based team will receive race cars from SHR and engines from Roush Yates Engines.
Moffitt, 30, will start the season’s opening race at Daytona on February 18 and drive the No. 25 Ford. The crew chief for the squad will be revealed later.
The Xfinity team will have AM Technical Solutions as its main sponsor. AM Technical Solutions is a large, international architecture, engineering, and construction organization.
For AM Racing and our future in NASCAR, this is a crucial decision, according to team co-owner Kevin Cywinski. “AM Racing is committed to ensuring that we are taking the necessary measures to not only give our team but Brett the opportunity to be competitive from the time we show up to Daytona in February, which is something this group deserves.”
In three Truck races over the past 2 seasons, Moffitt, a Grimes, Iowa, native, ran for the team. He has two top-five and 23 top-10 results in 84 races in the Xfinity series over his career.
“I am beyond excited about this next chapter in my career,” said Moffitt. “Wade (Moore), Kevin (Cywinski) and the entire AM Racing team are putting the pieces together to make sure that we not only have a team that can run up front, but win races in 2023.
“I was impressed by the team’s long-term plan and without question I know that we will be able to accomplish the goals that we have set forth.”
In 2023, AM Racing will run the No. 22 Ford the Truck Series in addition to the Xfinity Series and a renamed full-time ARCA Menards Series program.
Austin Wayne Self will continue to be a racer for the company, but his schedule won’t be made public until later.
