Singapore GP 2022

From 2023 to 2026, the Marina Bay Street Circuit will undergo modifications that will enhance the circuit layout.

Singapore GP 2022

The Singapore Grand Prix course will be upgraded during 2023 and 2026, which would lead to shorter lap times for the longest race on the schedule.

The Singapore Grand Prix is typically completed in two hours, with 61 laps of racing around 23 turns.

However, because to renovations to “The Float” in Marina Bay between Turns 16 and 19, the amended temporary track layout will be 4.928km instead of 5.063km and have 63 laps instead of 42.

This means that the minimum race time will now be 01:30:34, which is 30 minutes faster than the regular finish time.

In order to affect the outcome of the race and help his teammate Fernando Alonso victory, Nelson Piquet Jr. notably crashed on purpose between Turns 16 and 19 in 2008.

A nearly eight-second increase in lap timings

The best qualifying lap time is estimated by simulations using a 2020 Formula 1 car to be around 01:27.7, according to the Singapore Grand Prix.

George Russell turned in a 1:46.458 lap during this year’s Grand Prix, so the predicted times are expected to be about 20 seconds faster.

This will result in a total number of turns 19 after these corners are realigned into a 397.9m-long straight.
