Video flashback: Magnussen received a special visit after finishing fifth in Bahrain

After finishing 5th in his first race returning to Formula One, Kevin Magnussen received a special visit at the Haas garage.

After missing out the 2021 season, Kevin Magnussen had a great weekend in Bahrain.

Magnussen was questioned to rejoin to Haas when Russian racer Nikita Mazepin’s current contract expires at the end of 2020.

Despite having previous commitments with Chip Ganassi Racing and Peugeot for 2022, Magnussen received an offer promptly and travelled to Bahrain for the second of the F1 pre-season testing.

Magnussen placed seventh in Bahrain considering his lack of practise, recent experience, and F1-specific physical conditioning.

But there was more to come, as the Dane climbed to 5th position after some late withdrawal, returning Haas to point-scoring form for the first time since the 2020 season.

Magnussen’s wife Louise, whom he married in 2019, paid him a surprise visit after the event. Laura, the couple’s daughter, was born during Magnussen’s break in 2021, and Louise brought her along with them.

Laura was placed in the cockpit of the VF-22 by her happy father, who took photos as the infant took the wheel and began’steering’ it – no doubt a rapid learner, given that both her father and grandfather (Jan) are race drivers!
