‘Best race car driver I’ve ever seen,’ says Tony Stewart of Kyle Larson

After winning his first NASCAR Cup Series championship on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, Kyle Larson earned great praise from motorsports legends.

Tony Stewart, a three-time Cup Series champion, and Mario Andretti were among the big names who congratulated the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports driver on his victory. Stewart even referred to him as the best race car driver he’d ever seen.

Larson spoke about Stewart’s message during his championship press conference.

“If I really had a true racing hero, I would say it’s Tony Stewart, who I’ve always believed to be the best race car driver ever,” Larson said. “That means a lot to me.”
