On the final lap of Sunday evening’s Bristol Dirt Race, Kyle Busch had an excellent perspective of the duel for the victory, and an even greater one when it was over.

Chase Briscoe collided with leader Tyler Reddick heading into the last turn of the 250-lap race, sending both drivers spiraling out of control.

Reddick was capable of straightening out his No. 8 Chevrolet and keep going, but not before Busch, who was racing third at the time, nipped him at the checkered flag by 0.330 seconds and took the win.

“I’ll take it!” Busch said over his team radio as he finished the race.

Busch has now won nine Cup races at the.533-mile track, ending a 25-race losing streak. Busch also matched Richard Petty’s record of 18 consecutive seasons with at minimum one triumph, set by the seven-time Cup champion.

“We got one. Doesn’t matter how you get them. It’s all about getting them,” said Busch, who was greeted by a cascade of boos from the Bristol crowd. “I mean, man, I feel like Dale Earnhardt Sr. right now. This is awesome. I didn’t do anything.

“It’s just a testament to our team, Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota … and it being fast, fast enough to stay in contention, fast enough to see those guys. I don’t know why we couldn’t fire off after it rained, both times. It just would not fire. Took it about 20 laps to get going.

“Overall, just really pumped to be back. Real pumped to get a win. This one means a lot. I can win on any surface here at Bristol. Bring it on, baby.”

Joey Logano, who claimed the first Bristol Dirt Race previous season, came in third, followed by Kyle Larson in fourth and Kyle Larson in fifth.

Alex Bowman, Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott, Michael McDowell, and Ty Dillon rounded out the top ten.

Briscoe finished 22nd.
