The final 5 road course races on the 2023 NASCAR Cup season will feature former Rolex 24 winner Andy Lally as the driver.

Starting with the competition on Sunday at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, Lally, who has a rich history in sports motor racing and has participated in all three NASCAR national series, is going to drive Rick Ware Racing’s No. 15 Ford.

He will also take part in the Chicago Street Race on July 2, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Race on August 13, the race at Watkins Glen, New York, and the Charlotte Roval race on October 8.

Camping World will be a sponsor of Lally’s five races.

“This is obviously an incredible opportunity, and I am very thankful to Rick (Ware, team owner) and Camping World for making this all come together in a very short amount of time,” Lally said.

“So many of my chances to race in NASCAR have been one-race deals. With five races now, I get to really focus and embed myself with a team to develop a stronger communication and understanding of each other, as well as learning what the Next Gen car likes on road courses.”

Lally, 48, has made 40 prior Cup appearances and has won the Rolex 24 five times as well as three IMSA championships. He also owns Grand Am records for top-five finishes, podium finishes, and number of victories.

Lally has had some of his greatest finishes in NASCAR competition in the Xfinity Series, where he has placed fifth four times, the latest being in 2021 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

“When we first talked to Andy about driving a few races with our team, I was very interested based on his impressive road course acumen,” said Ware.

“When Camping World wanted to partner with us for the rest of this year’s road course races, it was an easy decision. Our team is looking forward to getting it started this weekend.”

Lally’s announcement previous month on his social media accounts that he had the chance to compete in the Cup series led to sponsorship for the five-race arrangement. Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis responded with an offer to do all five road course events.

“It blew my mind,” Lally said. “I can’t thank Marcus and the Camping World family enough.”
