A modification will be made at the Australian Grand Prix in response to some previous problems with racers lining up in their grid boxes.

Before the Australian Grand Prix, the FIA changed the size of the grid boxes in response to punishments for racers who lined up inappropriately at the season’s first races.

At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon was given a five-second time penalty for being out of place in his grid box. Fernando Alonso received the same punishment at the next race in Saudi Arabia for the same violation.

In response, an FIA representative informed RacingNews365.com that grid boxes in Melbourne will then be 20cm bigger.

A center line will also be there to direct the racer as to where to place the car’s nose for parking.

The grid in Australia with the redesigned grid box is shown in the photographs below.

Ocon disclosed that after receiving his penalty for being out of place in Bahrain, he had talked to the FIA to get further information about the reason of his penalty.

The Alpine racer also pointed to visibility issues brought on by the new F1 car gen.

Ocon told the reporters, including RacingNews365.com, “I was [too far over to the right] basically, so that’s where things may get confusing, because it was too much over to the right and over the line.”

“Unfortunately, you can’t see very well in these cars, especially not when you’re on the grid like that. You can see the yellow line as a reference, but it is up to me to fix it.”
