Joey Gase was taken to a local hospital following the crash in Las Vegas

Joey Gase was taken to a local hospital after being involved in a major incident during the second stage of the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

On Lap 92, Gase was running near the back of the race when he spun in Turn 1 after his No. 15 car’s left rear tire broke off. In Turn 2, he slammed with the outside wall and appeared to fly airborne for a brief minute.

The Rick Ware Racing machine was destroyed, and Gase did not immediately lower the window net, as is usual as a signal to safety workers that they are safe. He did, however, walk himself to the ambulance.

According to NASCAR, the 28-year-old was treated at the infield care center and will be taken to a local medical facility for additional evaluation.
