Marvin Musquin is no longer a member of the MXoN team for Team France

Benoit Paturel has been recruited to replace Marvin Musquin, who has ruled himself out of Team France for the 2021 Motocross of Nations. Musquin was diagnosed with Covid-19 in the end of August and is still recovering.

“Musquin is still very weakened physically by the virus,” said the Federation Francaise de Motocyclisme in a press release.

Paturel will compete in the MXGP category with the #13 and will be riding for the French team for the second time in his career, having won with them at Maggiora in 2016.

The FFM says that Paturel, who is 26 years old, has put his health concerns behind him they have complete confidence in its three French delegates for the 74th edition of the Motocross of Nations.

Team France will have two rookies in 2021. Although Vialle was selected to race in the 2019 edition before being replaced due to a dispute between the factory KTM team and the FFM, Boisrame and Vialle will have their first taste of Nations’ in Italy.

Musquin’s absence will be a huge blow for Team France both on and off the track. He still has a lot to contribute on the race when he’s fit, and he’d be a valuable calming influence for the two Motocross of Nations rookies off the track.

Since the Ironman National, Musquin has not competed in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. He signed a new Supercross-only deal with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing for another year, it was confirmed yesterday.
