Mercedes has stated that Lewis Hamilton’s disqualification from qualifying in Brazil will not be challenged.
Mercedes has decided not to appeal Lewis Hamilton’s ban from qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix, citing the fact that “we want to win these World Championships on the race track.”
The stewards’ decision on Hamilton’s rear wing was released ahead of the Sprint Qualifying race, with the Briton being disqualified from qualifying due to his Drag Reduction System (DRS) opening more than allowed.
The team has the opportunity to appeal the stewards’ decision, as is usual in such situations, but has stated that they will not do so.
As a result, Hamilton will start from the rear of the grid in Sprint Qualifying, as well as a five-place grid penalty for Sunday’s Grand Prix, after switching engines this weekend.
