After Alpine debuted their Hypercar challenger, the Frenchman disclosed if he would like to compete in the renowned 24-hour race in the future.
After the introduction of their A424 Hypercar, Alpine racer Esteban Ocon is considering competing in the renowned Le Mans 24 Hours competition with the team.
At their Oxfordshire factory, the French manufacturer’s 2024 Formula 1 challenger and the Hypercar program were unveiled, making the brand one of the few with a presence in both elite championships alongside Ferrari.
Ocon said he felt the Hypercar looked “mega” and speculated as to whether he might see himself getting behind the wheel in the future.
“The focus is always 2,000% on Formula 1, but I think as soon as one F1 driver will do Le Mans while the F1 season is going, many more drivers will do so, and I’m waiting for that moment to see what happens,” Ocon stated to the press, including RacingNews365.
In the past, Charles Leclerc has expressed his desire to compete in the race in addition to his Formula One responsibilities, should the chance arise.
Ocon: I hope Mick returns to Formula One
There are a few former stars competing at Le Mans this year, including Antonio Giovinazzi, who won the race with Ferrari the previous year, Mick Schumacher, and Nyck de Vries. However, none of the racers on the current F1 grid will be competing.
In response to a question regarding Schumacher’s arrival to the Alpine family, Ocon stated: “Having Mick join the Alpine endurance squad is fantastic.
“I think he’s bringing a lot of experience, expertise, and he’s obviously a very talented driver in general. I really hope that they are going to be winning Le Mans this year.
“I will be supporting and cheering for them, and I hope to see Mick in Formula 1 in the future again.”
