The Coca-Cola 600 scheduled for Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed by NASCAR due to the ongoing rainfall.
The 600-mile NASCAR Cup race, which would have followed the Indianapolis 500 and the Formula 1 race in Monaco, had originally been set to start at 6:21 p.m. ET.
In Monaco, Max Verstappen won after dominating all laps and in the 107th edition of the Indianapolis 500, Josef Newgarden beat Marcus Ericsson in a one-lap dash.
However, a slow-moving weather system that affected Charlotte all day Sunday brought mild to moderate rain.
Due to the postponement of Saturday’s 300-mile Xfinity Series race, there will be two events on Monday, each lasting 900 miles.
The Cup race will air at 3 p.m. EST on FOX after the Xfinity race, which was previously rescheduled for 12 p.m. EST, airs at 11 a.m. EST on FS1.
The starting lineup for the 600 was determined using NASCAR’s performance measure since Cup qualifying was again postponed on Saturday due to weather.
William Byron, who triumphed in the most current race in the series that was worth points two weeks ago in Darlington, South Carolina, got the lowest metric score and will start from the front.
Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick will sit alongside Byron on the front row, rounding out the top five.
Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, Ryan Blaney, Christopher Bell, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. round out the top ten starts.
The All-Star Race winner from the previous weekend at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway, Kyle Larson, will start from position twelve. Larson, who will participate in the Indy 500 next season, was present as it got underway on Sunday.
Monday’s weather is presently predicted to be cloudy, with a high around 70 and a 25% chance of showers.
The Coca-Cola 600 was last relocated to Memorial Day by Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2009.
