Due to severe conditions, the rest of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Dover has been delayed until Monday.
Since of torrential rain surrounding Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway, the event was called off after 78 of the 400 planned laps on Sunday. It will be shown live on Fox Sports 1 at 12 p.m. ET on Monday. Until at least 200 laps have been run, the race is deemed official.
On Lap 68, NASCAR issued a yellow due to the first signs of rain. Denny Hamlin was setting the pace.
Under the caution, almost all of the lead-lap cars pitted, but Kyle Larson stayed out and took over the lead. Among those who pitted, Hamlin was the first off.
On Lap 78, the race was set to begin BUT the rain returned, and the red flag was issued.
Larson will lead the race when it restarts on Monday, with Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr., William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Aric Almirola following closely behind.
Hamlin will start eighth, Alex Bowman ninth, and Kyle Busch tenth after being the first driver off pit road.
