Verstappen and Hamilton are set for a winner-take-all showdown

After a dramatic Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen will head to the season’s final round tied on points, with Mercedes holding a strong lead over Red Bull.

The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix saw Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen go all out for victory, adding to the drama of the 2021 season.

After several tense moments, Hamilton claimed the checkered flag to win his third race in a row and tie Verstappen on 369.5 points, setting up a thrilling winner-take-all season finale in Abu Dhabi.

If the duo were to remain level on points and the season went to countback, Verstappen would still have the advantage of more race victories (having claimed nine to Hamilton’s eight), but he no longer has a numerical lead.

Mercedes expanded their lead over Red Bull in the Constructors’ standings to 33.5 points after Valtteri Bottas defeated Esteban Ocon in a sprint to the line to give the Silver Arrows a double podium result.
