Alex Bowman wins his first Top 5 ranking in 2021 in Atlanta

Alex Bowman had his best run of the young 2021 season Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway in his first season aboard the Hendrick Motorsports No. 48.

Bowman finished third in the Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 after routinely finishing in the top ten during the race. As a result, it was his best finish in six races in 2021 and his first top-10 finish in six Atlanta starts.

“For sure it was a good day to come home third,” Bowman said. “I feel like our Ally Camaro was pretty good. It was just a little bit off on the long-run stuff.”

Despite having nothing but praise for HMS colleague Kyle Larson, who finished second, Bowman emphasized the wonderful vibes pumping through the HMS walls after six powerful weeks.

“Obviously wish the No. 5 (Kyle Larson) would have won there,” he said, “but I’m proud of everybody at Hendrick Motorsports continually bringing really fast race cars to the race track.”

Ending the day with a worthy result, Bowman was relieved to finally get the result that reflected the team’s efforts.

“Finally, a day where nothing bad happened,” he said. “We’ll take a good solid day, a solid top-three, and move onto Bristol.”
