Aston Martin is optimistic about its performance in Austin

As they look to pass Alfa Romeo for 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship in Austin, Aston Martin are optimistic about continuing their strong performance after scoring consistent points in current races.

Drivers of the Aston Martins Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll said they are optimistic they will earn consistent points in the final four races of the 2022 season, which starts this weekend with the United States Grand Prix.

Aston Martin was wallowing in 9th position in the Constructors’ Championship at the midway point of the 2022 season after a terrible first half of the year.

Nevertheless, Aston Martin has moved up to 7 position in the rakings after scoring in six of the last seven Grands Prix, behind Alfa Romeo by just six points in sixth place despite the latter’s one point in the previous nine races.

“It is always a great feeling to return [to America], especially to such an exciting track, with lots of really challenging sectors,” said Vettel, who made his F1 debut at the 2007 United States Grand Prix, and won the 2013 event at the Circuit of the Americas.

“As ever, it is tough to predict exactly where we will be in the midfield battle, but recent races have shown we can regularly challenge for points positions, so I feel confident.

“We want to carry our positive momentum all the way to the end of the season.”

Stroll expresses optimism in Austin’s future

Stroll, a teammate of Vettel’s, arrived sixth in Singapore earlier this month, which was his best achievement of the season. Stroll expressed confidence that Aston Martin’s current point-scoring streak will continue this weekend.

“We have shown great pace in recent races and I believe we will here as well,” said Stroll.

“Additionally, we now find ourselves in a fight for sixth position in the Constructors’ Championship after a couple of strong team results, so we will be looking to pick up more points and close that gap in the standings.”
