Denny Hamlin won Round 7 of the NASCAR Cup Series season in 2022 by executing a two-stop plan flawlessly.
William Byron attempted to hold off Martin Truex Jr. at Richmond Raceway, while Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick pursued them both.
With just 4 circuits remaining, Hamlin accomplished the race-leading pass and then held off Harvick to give Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota a much-needed triumph.
There were seven distinct leaders, 13 lead changes, and five warnings during the race.
Ryan Blaney, who dominated the most laps (128) and won the opening stage, finished sixth overall. Truex, who won the second stage, finished fourth overall.
