The Watkins Glen NASCAR Cup race’s beginning was postponed by lightning

The NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen on Sunday has been postponed.

Lightning is a different matter, despite the fact that rain tyres are available and NASCAR races in the rain on road courses.

Everything was placed in a 30-minute lightning hold due to a strike within eight miles of the racing circuit as storms drew closer to the area. More lightning strikes nearby have since reset that clock.

The start of the race was scheduled for 3:19 PM local time.

Teammate Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports will start beside Chase Elliott, who is expected to take the lead at the beginning of the race.

The 39 entries this weekend’s field has a record number of countries represented (seven), with names like Kimi Raikkonen, Mike Rockenfeller, and Daniil Kvyat on the grid.

Due to an engine change, Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell as well as the following racers will begin from the back of the field: unapproved modifications: Byron, William Ty Gibbs, Kyle Tilley, Daniil Kvyat, and Cody Ware.
