Red Bull won several more prizes at the Hungarian Grand Prix in addition to earning P1 and P5 finishes from positions 10 and 11 on the starting grid.
Red Bull had a very good day in the Hungarian Grand Prix, not only taking home a surprise win but also picking up some extra awards.
After experiencing a technical problem during qualifying on Saturday, Max Verstappen began the race from P10, closely followed by Sergio Perez in P11.
Nevertheless, in the race on Sunday, both racers made progress. Verstappen in particular showed signs of improvement and went on to secure his eighth victory of the year, increasing his lead in the World Championship rankings.
The Dutchman thus won F1’s Driver of the Day title after receiving 34% of the vote, which was decided by fans. Lewis Hamilton, his closest rival, finished with 16%.
Red Bull outperformed the competition in the pit lane
Red Bull also excelled on the pit lane, winning first place there as well.
In addition to being the fastest stop of the race, Sergio Perez’s stop also turned out to be the fastest of the season thus far, making it the fastest stop made with 18-inch tyres thus far.
Perez was sent on his way by the Red Bull pit strategy in under 2.19 seconds, placing them first overall in the classification of pit stops.
Verstappen’s stop, on the other hand, was also swift and ranked third quickest of the day at 2.33 seconds.
