At the Singapore Grand Prix, Max Verstappen once came dangerously close to colliding with a lizard.
Although the Singapore Grand Prix has had several notable Formula 1 incidents throughout the years, none were as strange as the time Max Verstappen came dangerously close to running over a lizard on the racetrack.
There have been instances of F1 with animals on the racetrack before, including dogs, birds, and even groundhogs, but a lizard is different.
Verstappen’s first practise with the official Red Bull team, the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix, was when it occurred.
Gianpiero Lambiase, the race’s chief engineer, made light of the fact that his racer had encountered Godzilla as the lizard rushed across the exit of Turn 3 as he was passing.
Thankfully, there was no damage done to the lizard, and Verstappen went on to qualify fourth and place sixth in the race.
