Italian media reported that Ferrari made the decision to offer Charles Leclerc a different engine for the United States Grand Prix.

After changing to his 6th internal-combustion engine (ICE) of the season, Charles Leclerc will lose five grid positions at the US Grand Prix, according to Italian media.

Leclerc is already on his fifth ICE when this one is first presented to the pool, indicating Ferrari’s unreliability this year.

However, the squad is testing a better engine for the next four races of the season, not the mileage of the fifth ICE, which is the reason for the alteration.

According to Italian Motorsport, the team has made certain changes with the FIA’s approval in order to address reliability issues with the power unit.

These new components will be used in their 2023 power unit if the test is successful.

Carlos Sainz will have to wait until the upcoming season since only Leclerc will receive the improvements for the remainder of the current season.
