Despite being in the midst of a comeback, Max Verstappen presents a significant challenge for Ferrari this season. According to Dutch driver Tom Coronel, the Scuderia would gain from having Verstappen on their roster.
According to Dutch racing driver Tom Coronel, Ferrari should consider about attempting to woo Max Verstappen away from Red Bull.
With their car appearing to be faster than Verstappen’s team, the Scuderia had a solid beginning for the season.
Both teams have experienced mechanical problems at different stages throughout the current season, but Verstappen has helped to form a sizable place at the top of the World Championship standings.
Coronel, though, feels that he would have been at a massive benefit if he had been driving a Ferrari.
Coronel: If I were the head of Ferrari, I’d want Verstappen
During a conversation on the RacingNews365 F1 podcast, Coronel responded: “Yes, without a doubt. Verstappen would have achieved even more success under the wheel of the red car in 2022.
“I’ve always said that. What is Max’s value? It’s what Ferrari is willing to pay for it. That is in any case the reason why Red Bull has signed him for the long term, because then at least you know that you have the best driver in the house.
“If I were Ferrari, the director of Ferrari, I would now ask: how much will it cost to buy Max away from Red Bull? Who says it can’t be done? I’ve seen so many things happen with money! Then you see at once what Verstappen is worth. He is worth infinitely; he is worth all Ferrari.”
However, Verstappen has committed to staying with Red Bull through the end of 2028 and has already stated his desire to compete for the Milton Keynes-based team “forever,” making the likelihood of this move fairly remote.
